Embittered Heart

Like a root,
bitterness takes hold,
then off-shoots to invade
a weakened soul.
Resentment then
develops
side roots,
that permeate,
and turn often to anger.

Embitterment compares
well to a root-bound plant
lacking nourishment,
though all the while
seeking light,
as roots push
through holes,
sometimes cracking
the plant home, in search
of water to quench thirst.

People not deprived
of God's Son Light,
and His Living Waters,
will not easily become
house-bound from bitterness
nor become soul-entrapped
or mind-bound,
emotionally
imprisoned
from knowing joy.
His light, love and waters
taken in liberal daily doses
assure life will surely abound.
